Day One of a four day trip to the San Francisco Bay Area for work.

Lunch: Dave, Papa, and I ate at Il Cane Rosso (Ferry Building, San Francisco, CA‎ - (415) 391-7599).
Il Cane Rosso

Marin Sun Farms Spit-roasted Porchetta with pickled Cabbage, house made dijon mustard & peppercress $9.
Il Cane Rosso - Porchetta Sandwich

Marin Sun Farms Beef Brisket "Bolleto" with red onions "fra diavolo" & Arugula $9.

Marquita Farm Roasted Beets & Farro with Champagne Vinaigrette, extra virgin olive oil and ricotta Salata $7.50.

Herb Roasted Potatoes $5.

Marin Sun Farms Ham & Kale Soup with butter beans $6.
Il Cane Rosso - Ham & Kale Soup

All of it was excellently prepared and wonderfully flavorful. My favorite was the Porchetta, but I would have any of the sandwiches or sides again in an instant. I also especially liked the potatoes mainly because of the inclusion of roasted garlic cloves.

Dinner: I got a Double Double with fries at In-N-Out for dinner. The fries were under salted and too many for me to eat by myself so I ended up leaving some of them. It's been about eight months since I last had a Double Double and there is something wonderful about the spongy, salty bread with thin flavorful meat patties oozing with gooey cheese, and crisp lettuce & cold tomato slices that just works.

  • Love your pics. on the peanut butter cookie recipe. Couldn't figure out how i got them thin and crispy, one of those happy accidents. I bookmarked your page for future baking! Good job.
