Dinner: I cooked a rib-eye steak in the convection oven and finished it on a pan with olive oil to form a crust. I served it with red potatoes and zucchini.

Lunch: Ate lunch at Pho Thaison (5401 FM 1626, Kyle, TX‎ - (512) 268-3205‎) because we needed to get supplies at the HEB. I had a spring roll and fried crispy noodles with beef and broccoli.

  • What's your favorite method for cooking various steaks at home?

Michael Chu, July 24th, 2009 at 11:01 am:

  • It is definitely the grill. Unfortunately, right now I don't have one (due to selling them before the move to Texas) and won't have one for a few more months (moving again later this year). I feel handicapped without one. It's like not being able to find your favorite pot or not being able to buy chicken or something.

  • How about just buying one of those Weber charcoal chimneys and a small grate, and grilling on top of that?

  • Those are both options… now for the truth - I don't have a covered patio in my current place and it's been 104 degrees in the shade lately…

  • I feel ya. The only place on my property to grill is my 6ft deep front yard, which is immediately in front of a grouchy old woman's window, which is always open, or in the driveway of my 7-unit apartment complex…never a very long break between traffic.
