Breakfast: Cinnamon Roll (see yesterday)

Lunch: I made a sandwich out of left over roast chicken breast, strawberry jam, and spring greens on sandwich bread. I thought about making gravy out of stock I made from the chicken bones, but decided to eat immediately instead.

Dinner: We went out to the Farm to Plate event run by Austin's Sustainable Food Center. Farm to Plate is an annual fundraising event featuring local chefs, wineries, breweries, farmers, and other food artisans with a focus on sustainability. I think it was the first time we did something social since we moved to Austin, so it was a welcome evening of good food, interesting conversations, and wonderful people. (We ended up eating with two interesting women - Suzy and Stefania. Suzy's retired and Stefania currently marketing for Aliseo Foods, a provider of blood orange juice imported from Italy.)

  • Let me see if I can recognize anything:
    - pulled-pork on top of the chip in the back?
    - mushroom cap with something melted (cheese?) on top
    - two different types of fritters in the middle?
    - something shaped like a quiche but topped with salsa instead?
    - crab or lobster salad with pesto in the cup?

  • That was pulled pork on a chip… the others you attempted were:
Stuffed mushrooms with leeks, feta, and herbs
A meatball with pasta on a skewer (it was served with tagliatelle but I forgot to get that)
The other fritter looking like thing was a deep fried Rabbit Boudin with Pickled Garlic
Fredericksburg Grass-fed Beef Chili in Corn Masa Cups
The thing in the cup was simply labeled San Miguel Shrimp. The green sauce tasted more like a chimichurri with cumin but with the texture of pesto.
