What I Ate: April 4, 2009 (Prima Ristorante)

Today was another crazy day. I didn't get a chance to eat until we went to Dave and Rachel's new home in Walnut Creek (where I got to snack on some cheese and crackers prior to heading to dinner). We walked around downtown Walnut Creek for a few minutes before deciding on dining at Prima Ristorante (1522 North Main Street, Walnut Creek, CA‎ - (925) 935-7780‎).

We started off with some speck (smoked prosciutto).
Prima - Speck

Then shared a pizzetta (a thin crust pizza) with potato (very thinly sliced), porcini mushrooms, and fontina cheese. We were unable to identify the mushrooms or taste their texture, so I guess they were chopped very fine - we could taste it and definitely smelled the porcini even before we ate the pizza. Tina and I really liked this dish and would recommend it wholeheartedly.

Tina ate an arugula salad which also had citrus segments, almonds, and goat cheese. (I had a few bites.)
Prima - Arugula and Winter Citrus Salad

I ate the Ravioli di Carne which was filled with what tasted like braised beef short rib (shredded). It was served in a simple but tasty sauce.

I enjoyed each of the dishes we received at Prima.

  • Lovely dinner. I'd love to try those ravioli. Are those caramelized onions in the sauce?

  • I think they were… but I can't quite recall right now. So much is going on that I barely have time to think about the food I've been eating.
